Mongolia takes 21st medals from World Judo Championships

The World Championships Seniors Baku 2018 was held in Azerbaijan capital on 20-26 September. A total of 755 judokas from 124 countries participated in the competition. Team Mongolia was listed 14th in World Judo Championships with three silver medals (D.Sumiya (57 kg), L.Otgonbaatar (-100 kg) and U.Duurenbayar (+100) kg). A total of 18 Mongolian judokas competed in the all weight categories, with the exception of -78 kg.

Mongolia has won a total of 21 medals from World Judo Championships. In 1989, judoka D.Gantulga (60 kg) won Mongolia’s first ever bronze medal following O.Baljinnyam (-95 kg) took the first silver. After 20 years, Kh.Tsagaanbaatar won the first ever gold medal from World Judo Championships in 2009.
