The drought observation system, known as DroughtWatch-Mongolia, aims to provide real-time and wide-range drought information for disaster prevention and mitigation departments across the country.
The DroughtWatch is a global multi-satellite, multi-scale drought monitoring system and has been in service continuously for more than 20 years. It has become the ideal mechanism for drought monitoring recommended by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
The system developed by Chinese researchers has been handed over for service in Mongolia, with a transfer agreement signed.
