State honoured athlete B.Ser-Od won 5th place, with a time of 2:23:42, in the men’s marathon at the Asian Games. The multi-sports event is being held from 18 August to 2 September in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.

Previously, B.Ser-Od represented his country in the marathon at the Summer Olympics in 2004, 2008 and 2012 where he also was flag bearer. D.Ser-Od began his international career in 2002 and has competed in the marathon on five consecutive editions of the World Championships in Athletics since 2003. His best performance is 20^th at the 2011 World Championships. He is Mongolia’s first ever elite level marathon runner and his personal best of 2:08:50 is the Mongolian national record.

In the women’s marathon, international master B.Munkhzaya took 7th place of women’s marathon (2:40:14), while G.Khishigsaikhan came in at 10th place respectively.
