Currently, a total of 35 Mongolian citizens are serving prison terms in Hong Kong.

Due to the sharp increase in the flow of movement of Mongolian citizens abroad, the number of crimes committed by them has increased in recent years, which has led to the need to conclude agreements with the special administrative regions of the China – Hong Kong and Macau.

An agreement on the transfer of prisoners between Mongolia and Hong Kong was concluded in 2016, and agreement on the provision of legal assistance in criminal cases was signed in March 2018.
