The number of schools in Mongolia increased by sixteen this year. However, a total of 38 schools will have three-shifts during the 2018-2019 academic year which starts on 1 September. Across the country, there are 814 schools (660 are state owned and 154 are private) and 598 thousand students.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports (MECSS) said, they will completely eliminate the three-shift system in schools by the 2019-2020 academic year.
