Scores of power lines went down in Arkhangai, Bayankhongor, Bulgan, Dundgobi, Orkhon, Uvurkhangai provinces as flooding left 65 soums – or districts – without electricity.  According to the Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), a total of 27 power lines failed. In all, 68 people with 19 vehicles from Khangai Regional Electricity Transmission Company has restored power to 12 soums, however, 53 others remain without electricity.

Heavy downpours have been hitting Mongolia since the beginning of July, triggering massive local flooding. NEMA said that the floods have claimed 48 lives, including nine children, since the beginning of summer.
