Representatives of the civil movements that are organizing the present protest against the Government told a press conference yesterday that they have formed a nine-member temporary council. Six of the members are from the provinces while three are from Ulaanbaatar. Two of the leaders, D.Battsogt and G.Uyanga, were not present at the meeting as they are continuing with their hunger strike.

The representatives protested against the action of the authorities in using force to remove hunger strikers from Sukhbaatar Square. They are continuing the strike at another building. They have now added one more demand to their previous list. They want Chinese to leave Dornod’s Tamsag Bulag oil deposit, Selenge’s Tumurt deposit and Khovd’s Khushuut mine. The protesters allege that the almost 10,000 Chinese miners are sexually exploiting young women.

The movement will open an exhibition on April 23 showing the unkept promises given by MPs.

Three of the seven hunger strikers are being treated in hospital. They are Ganbaatar of Rapid Innovation, citizen Ninj and Lhagvajav of National Soyombo Movement.
