The long-awaited New Yarmag Bridge has finally opened in the 4th Khoroo of Ulaanbaatar’s Khan-Uul District. The construction of the 250 meter, four-lane bridge has lasted for nine months. The construction of the structure and restoration of the Old Yarmag Bridge has been implemented by CNY 30 million of soft loans of China. A 50-meter wide tunnel has been constructed under the bridge. Restoration of Old Bridge is expected to continue until November.
The new bridge has a capacity of 20-30 thousand cars daily.
Most of the bridges in Ulaanbaatar were built between 1960-1986 and link the northern and southern parts of the city over the obstacles of the railway lines and River Tuul.
