Two Mongolian freestyle wrestlers have been banned from competitions by the country’s Freestyle Wrestling Federation for doping violations. B.Gonchigtavkhai was tested positive in a sample which was examined by a South Korean laboratory. However, B.Soronzonbold was considered to have tested positive because he refused to give samples. The samples were collected during National Freestyle Wrestling Competition which was held in Orkhon Province in January.

The Foundation for Supporting Sports has been organising the ‘Mongolia against doping’ campaign in cooperation with the National Anti-Doping Centre since 2017. Under the campaign, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports has examined out-of-competition doping tests among Mongolian traditional wrestlers. A total of 198 athletes from 16 sports participated in the doping tests and samples were sent to WADA and South Korean laboratory.
