The second Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) under the theme ‘Preventing Disaster Risk: Protecting Sustainable Development’ opened earlier today (3 July).

The conference started with the Stakeholder Consultations at the Tuushin Hotel at 9.00 a.m. The opening ceremony was held at the State House at 4.00 p.m. Over 3000 official delegates, including NGO’s, the media, and researchers from more than 50 countries have gathered in Ulaanbaatar.

Co-organised with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), the AMCDRR aims to accelerate efforts in the region to reduce and prevent disaster losses through implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.
