A silicon extraction and processing plant was launched in the Saikhandulaan Soum of Dornogobi Aimag on 1 July. The plant was constructed by the Mongolian subsidiary of Japan’s Megatech Corporation.

Located on the site of substantial reserves estimated to last 400 years, the plant will process up to 3600-4800 tons of silicon annually.

Megatech Corporation President Shigeru Nagao said that the company is planning to export the silicon to Japan, Korea and China. In addition, the plant will be able to export silicon to Europe through Russia.
