A Mongolian woman in her 20’s gave birth to a healthy boy on a train en route from Zamyn Uud to Ulaanbaatar on 24 June. Mother and baby were transported by ambulance to the First Maternity Hospital in Ulaanbaatar after the train stopped at Amgalan Station. The woman gave birth at 6.00 a.m. with the help of two railway employees. The young woman in question works with the Zuunbayan military unit. The baby had been due on 6-7 July.
Under Mongolian law, the newborn boy will benefit free rail travel until he turns 18.
