The DeFacto Institute, an independent research think tank based in Ulaanbaatar, announced an index of the internal democracy of Mongolian political parties earlier today. The survey was conducted on four subjects namely, internal participation, competition, transparency and budget. Only six parties of the 28 political parties which have registered in Mongolian High Court participated in the survey; ten refused outright to take part.
According to the index, Mongolian parties only have ‘half democracy’;
Mongolian Democratic party-54.2 percent
Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party-51.7 percent
Motherland Party-51.4 percent
“National Labour Party” -51.2 percent
Mongolian People’s Party -48.2 percent
The Civil Will–Green Party-42.7 percent
(If the index 61-100 percent – have democracy
31-60 percent-half democracy
Less than 31 percent- does not have democracy)
