During the first five months of 2018, the Mongolian average monthly salary reached MNT 1 million, reported the National Statistical Office.  A total of 602. thousand employees of 38.7 thousand enterprises have been surveyed in the Social Welfare General Authority report. The number of enterprises has increased by 0.7 percent and the number of employees by 11.8 thousand or 1.9 percent.

The average monthly salary in Mongolia nationwide differs greatly by regions which follow;

-MNT 860.1 thousand for the Khangai region,

-MNT 856.4 thousand for the central region,

-MNT716.3 thousand for the eastern region,

-MNT 646.9 thousand for the western region

-MNT 1.1 million for Ulaanbaatar.

Employees in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, are paid 118.3 thousand more than in the rest of the country.

Based on the general classifications of all economic activities, the average monthly salary for the mining and exploration sector is MNT 2.4 million – considered as the highest. Meanwhile the salary of cultural sector employees receive the minimum salary of MNT 601.9 thousand.
