The Mongolian Court has decided to release former prime minister Ch.Saikhanbileg; the  49 year-old politician is now in the Second General Hospital, because of health problems and has been banned from leaving the country. Last week Ch .Saikhanbileg underwent urgent surgery as his health was deteriorated in the detention centre. Previously, the Mongolian Court denied a request for release on bail.

Ch.Saikhanbileg, the 27th Mongolian prime minister, has been accused of an abuse of power while making the 2009 Oyu Tolgoi Investment Agreement and the 2015 Oyu Tolgoi Underground Mine Development and Financing Plan respectively.

Another, former prime minister, S.Bayar, who has also been accused of abuse of power, has also been released on medical grounds. Until recently, S.Bayar, was Mongolia’s ambassador to the United Kingdom. He is, however, best remembered for his role as prime minister during the Ulaanbaatar riot and four-day state of emergency in July 2008.
