Mongolians take home four medals at World University Games

The closing ceremonies for the 26th Summer Universiade, or World University Games, were held in Shenzhen, China yesterday. A record-breaking 10,000 competitors from 152 nations took part in the 12-day games. China topped the medal standings, winning 145 medals, including 75 gold. Russia came in second with 132 medals, including 42 gold.

157 competitors from Mongolia took part in 12 events, winning four medals. O. Chinbat, Ch. Narantuya, and B. Munguntuul each won silver in their respective events, while the Mongolian shooting team also picked up a silver medal.

Organizers said they were pleased that the games were free of doping scandals. The closing ceremonies were held at the Window of the World, a famous tourist attraction in Shenzhen. During the ceremony, the official flag of the games was presented to the mayor of Kazan, Russia, the site of the next Universiade in 2013.
