A photography exhibition entitled ‘Mazaalai-which we know’ has opened at the Fresh Water Resources and Nature Conservation Centre. The event is being organised by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and is aimed at raising public awareness of the critically endangered Gobi Bear – known in Mongolian as the Mazaalai.

According to A.Bayasgalan, a researcher at the Foundation for Saving the Mazaalai, the team caught 23 bears to put a collar around its neck for further studies since 2005. Only a small population or 28 Gobi Bears are thought to currently survive in the Greater Gobi Strictly Protected Area.
