President Battulga underlined the importance of strengthening economic ties and mobilising major joint projects with Germany on Wednesday when he received a member of the German Bundestag; the visiting official, currently in Ulaanbaatar, is Mr. Manfred Grund, chairman of the German-Central Asian Parliamentary Group.
The sides also exchanged views as how best to cooperate in the future, focusing, among other things, on renewable energy production and defence.
As of 2017, the bilateral trade turnover between Mongolia and Germany exceeded USD 140 million, in which, export accounted for over 10 million USD, while imports accounted for nearly 130 million USD. During the same period, the amount of direct investment by Germany in Mongolia stood at USD 50 million, which constituted 0.8 percent of all foreign direct investment into the country.
