The unique natural beauty and culture of the north-east Asian country of Mongolia have been presented in a photo show underway at the Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts in Badda, Bangladesh.
The show, ‘Mongolia – Country of Blue Sky’, displays 34 photographs most of which depict its distinctive natural beauty. A landlocked country, Mongolia has vast areas covered by grassy steppe and with mountains to the north and west and with the Gobi Desert to the south.
The honourary consul of Mongolia to Bangladesh, Nasreen Ftema Awal approached the Abinta Gallery to organise the photo exhibition as a part of a cultural representation through sharing the views of Mongolia by visual photographs to the spectators of Bangladesh. Mongolian Ambassador G.Ganbold was present at the show as the chief guest while artist Monirul Islam was there as the special guest. The event has been organised as part of a cultural exchange programme between the two countries.
Some photos show aerial views of the vast barren land of the grassy steppe, dried rivers, icy lakes, cattle and horses grazing, two humped camels, an icy waterfall in the the towering Altai Mountain and many other remarkable images.
Colourful and spectacular ornaments and attires used by the Mongolian women as well as the ubiquitous Morin Khuur – or ‘horse head fiddle’ have also been presented in some photographs. Another photo shows a typical ritual dating back to the era of the great warrior Chinggis Khaan, depicting artistes performing on a big cart pulled by oxen.
The spectacular view of the sunset in cosmopolitan Ulaanbaatar and its areal night view depicted on some photographs present the diverse culture of Mongolia. Some photos show foreigners taking dinner at a restaurant, Mongolians presenting a ballet dance, traditional dishes, famous sports figures of the country and others.
