U.S. Vice President Joe Biden came to Mongolia on a state visit yesterday. At a “mini Naadam” held in his honor, Mr. Biden watched a traditional Mongolian wrestling match and an exhibition of contortionism, and even practiced some archery. Mr. Biden was very appreciative of the displays, and afterwards he shook hands with the wrestlers and contortionists. The Mongolians also gave Mr. Biden a horse, traditionally the most meaningful gift that can be given in Mongolian culture. Earlier in the day, the vice president met with Prime Minister S. Batbold and invited him to visit the United States in October. The prime minister told Mr. Biden that he was welcome to come back to Mongolia anytime. Mr. Biden later departed for Japan, the last stop on his weeklong swing through Asia.
