Today is the ninth day of the sit-down protest by Mongolian doctors outside the International Monetary Fund (IMF) representative office in Ulaanbaatar. Their protest initially began on Sukhbaatar Square, outside the State Palace, for increasing the monthly salary of health workers by no less than 50 percent. The demonstration, which continues daily from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., is not just taking place in the capital, but, in administrative centres across the whole country.

The Mongolian Health Workers’ Union (HWU) had presented its demands to officials of IMF for increasing monthly salary within second quarter of 2018. Furthermore, a 541 page petition signed by 15,000 doctors has been given to representatives of the IMF.
