Mongolian firefighters are battling to control a forest fire in the Eruu Soum of Selenge Province. The fire started on Thursday (17 May) due dry conditions and spread quickly because of the windy weather. Twenty firefighters from Mandal Soum Emergency Management Department and twelve people with three special vehicles and six horses from the administration of the Khan Khentii Specially Protected Area are battling the conflagration.
Earlier today, an additional 40 firefighters from Ulaanbaatar, Selenge and Darkhan were sent by Mi-171E helicopter to the scene.
