A road construction project in the Songino-Khairkhan district of Ulaanbaatar that was supposed to be completed last week has been delayed until Wednesday or Thursday, a transportation official tells our correspondent. The road, sometimes known as the “22nd Checkpoint,” was originally scheduled to re-open on August 15, but it is still closed. Officials blame heavy rain for the delay. They say the rain made it impossible to complete the paving process. The official contacted by our correspondent said, “The work to construct entrances and exits to more than ten businesses on the road has not been completed. We expect to open the road on August 24 or 25.”
