On Wednesday (16 May), at the request of members of the public, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Appeals held a discussion at Mongolia’s State Palace on the financial spending on fighting air-pollution in Ulaanbaatar. The investigation focuses on spending during the period from 2011 to 2015.

According to Standing Committee Chairwoman M.Oyunchimeg, the ‘Fresh Air Fund’ spent a total of MNT 92.2 billion for fighting air pollution during the period in question. A working group was specially formed for investigating the fund’s spending, consisting of representatives of the from the National Audit Office, the Police Department and the Independent Authority against Corruption.

The ‘Fresh Air Fund’ was established on 24 June 2010 and dissolved on 13 November, 2015 by resolution of the Mongolian Cabinet.
