Earlier today, Wednesday 16 May, U.Enkhtuvshin, Deputy Prime Minister received Sholban Kara-ool, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Republic of Tuva, which shares a border with the northwestern provinces of Mongolia. During the meeting, Mr. Sholban Kara-ool expressed his interest on increasing cooperation with Mongolia on road transportation, trade and economy.
The Mongolian side asked Tuva’s support in constructing a woodworking plant in the Uvs Province and a meat processing plant in the republic capital Kyzyl, as well as raising the Borshoo-Khandgait border crossing to international status. Also under discussion was the establishment of direct air flight between the two neighbours. In addition, the two sides discussed the possible construction of a gas pipeline and railway linking Kyzyl-Tsagaantolgoi-Arts Suuri- Ovoot.
