A high-ranking Chinese Communist Party official will visit Mongolia this week. Zhou Yongkang is the head of the party’s powerful Central Political and Legislative Committee, which oversees government legal policy and the legislative agenda. Officials say his visit will strengthen relations between the two nations. Mongolian government officials and the leaders of some Mongolian political parties will meet with Zhou Yongkang during his visit. In addition, he will visit an eye-care clinic supported by the Chinese government, as well as a ceremony at the site of the “Shine Yarmag” apartment block, which is being built with support from China.
