Mongolia has 810,000 registered vehicles nationwide; 600 thousand of which are on the roads. Of these, 54.5 percent are right-hand drive.
According to a survey conducted by the Traffic Police Department, most road accidents happen at night time and involve right-hand drive vehicles. Analysis indicates that the light on right-hand drive vehicles shines in an opposite direction to the drivers’ eyes.
Subsequently, Mongolia has been changing the lights on right-hand drive vehicles from February. This year, officials plan to change the lights of nearly 100,000 vehicles.
