The ‘Student-Soldier’ programme – a scheme that enables university students to fulfill their obligation for military service without having to serve one year in the army – is being implemented for the fourth year. Between April and September 2018, over 1100 students will be participating in the programme; 720 are from the capital, Ulaanbaatar.

It is planned that the number of student-soldiers will be increased by 500 in 2019.

Since its launch in 2014, at the initiative of President Ts.Elbegdorj, over 4500 students have participated in the ‘Student-Soldier’ programme.
