‘Playtime’ live music festival to rock in July

The annual ‘Playtime’ live music festival has been organized since 2001 at Mongol Shiltgeen (Hotel Mongolia) in Gachuurt village just east of Ulaanbaatar. Initially, only a few people attended Playtime to listen to rock music and enjoy the festival. But now, Playtime has expanded to become an international event with thousands of people attending the festival each summer. This year’s exciting music festival is to be held on 6-8July.

A total of 35 best new and young bands headed by famous American band ‘Ariel Pink’, Japan’s ‘The Fin’, ‘Lite’ , Legendary Mongolian band ‘Khukh Tenger’, first synth rock band of Mongolia ‘Surug Khuch (Negative Power)’, post punk band ‘The Colors’ will rock at the festival. Also Italian techno DJ Claudio PRC,  Dutch DJ Albert Van Abbe , Mongolian DJ Biliguudei, TMK and a total of 70 bands and artists will perform on three stages namely ‘Playtime’, ‘Naaglikhats’ and ‘La Vie En Rose’.

The festival aims to promote modern music culture in Ulaanbaatar, and to bring together established and emerging artists to contribute to young people’s musical education.

Various pavilions are set up for food, tattoos, piercing, drawings, sales of clothing and accessories, and good Mongolian beer. Many attendees set up colorful tents and camp out at Mongol Shiltgeen to enjoy live music and dance at various parties until dawn.
