The State General Prosecutor’s Office of Mongolia has banned the Wrestling Palace, located in central Ulaanbaatar, from hosting cultural events until the necessary repairs have been conducted and the necessary safety standards met.
Robocon Mongolia, an annual robots competition among universities was originally planned to take place in the Wrestling Palace. Following the prosecutor’s decision, the competition has been moved to the Buyant-Ukhaa sports complex, situated near UB’s international airport.
A total of 17 teams from 16 universities and institutes have been competing in the event which started yesterday. The winner of the national competition will participate in the Robocon 2018, international competition in Taiwan.
