It has been an year since payment of bus fares went completely digital. The annual revenue of public transportation bus services has now reached over MNT 51 billion.

On the basis of digital payment service, the Ulaanbaatar Transportation Authority has surveyed the flow of passenger travel by bus. According to the survey, over 540 thousand people daily travelled by bus; no less than 62 thousand of whom make journeys involving several two or more buses. Furthermore, an average of 93 thousand pensioners, 38 thousand people with disabilities, 40 thousand students and 167 honoured donors enjoyed  discounts while travelling by bus daily.

In April, 2017, the bus companies decided to remove the cash fare boxes and require passengers to pay fares using bus cards to prevent them from riding without paying the full fare and to deter theft.
