Mongolia will organize the Silk Road Fashion Week in 2019. In accordance with this, we talked with Wang Haotian, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Silk Road International Fashion Week

– Tell me about yourself?

–I am Wang Haotian, the Secretary General of Zhongguancun Global Fashion Creative Industry Union, also the Chairman of Asia Model Association’s China Committee, China’s famous fashion planner and  Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Silk Road International Fashion Week.

-Why did you decide to choose fashion industry?

-Fashion dress is an explicit manifestation of fashion culture,a way of expressing fashion ideas and an important symbol of human civilization. The history of dress culture is just reflection of the human civilization’s development. Choosing the fashion industry can show and express my thoughts,attitudes and creative ideas to the fullest extent, and also enable me to feel the venation of fashion development at the forefront.In fact, the model industry in which I engaged at first is also an important part of the fashion industry and after that I began to organize various large-scale fashion events based on model interpretation and performance ,then further expanded to the whole fashion industry.              

-About Asian Model Association?

-The Asia Model Association is an international fashion organization co-founded by a host of people in the model industry in Asia. AMA’s purpose is to facilitate cultural exchanges among models and related model institutions in Asia,help Asian models grow overseas,work globally,gain recognition on international stage and make Asian model industry become more competitive in a bid to contribute to the culture and art industry’s development of Asian countries.
As an internationally specialized organization,AMA has made extensive contacts with professional institutions and individuals of Asian countries and worked with local governments and the industry associations to carry out multi-level cooperation and exchanges in various forms on the basis of abiding by the local laws and regulations.              

-Nowadays, Chinese Fashion Industry growing so fast,What is your opinion about Chinese Fashion Industry? 

-The Chinese fashion industry is developing at fast pace right now indeed, and in terms of both production and consumption, China is in the lead because of its long history in dress development and solid foundation for dress production with the largest consumer population in the world.
But the Chinese fashion industry is also facing the challenge of transformation and upgrading from the traditional type which features lions share of medium and low-end market, very small share of high-end market with less independent innovations till now that both the nation and professionals have realized the problems and would like to exert more efforts to promote innovation and reform. Before long,an array of outstanding Chinese fashion brands will be created with high quality,fine craft and creative designs in particular.

The Chinese consumers will favor more personalized and customized products and become more rational in consumption.The Zhongguancun Global Fashion Creative Industry Union under my leadership will also endeavor to build a creative fashion development platform for motivation and support of more and more brilliant creators and designers.

-Just only 3 months ago Asia Model Association successfully organized Silk Road International fashion Week. What is the importance of Silk Road international Fashion Week?

–At first, the Silk Road International Fashion Week was not solely held by Asia Model Association,but with several excellent organizations I brought together including Zhongguancun Global Fashion Creative Industry Union and organized by Mojie Culture Media.

The Silk Road International Fashion Week is truly unique in its concept and thinking, not like any other fashion week in the world.It is the only international fashion week with “Silk Road”as the theme, not named after a city or region,and any country or city can apply for holding the event which is called “the Fashion Olympics on the Silk Road ”.Its theme is “Fashion craftsmen bring in crossover show”aiming to promote and inherit “craftsman spirit”.The “Fashion Craftsmen- Jinlei Award”hailed as the grand art award featuring the most historic context and humanistic feelings is also initiated to commemorate the silk inventor “Leizu”and her craftsmanship inheritors.

-What do you think about Mongolian fashion? 

-My knowledge about the Mongolian fashion is only limited to the Mongolian designer who took part in the “Silk Road International Fashion Week”this year.This designer is very excellent and her designed fashion styles and shows have left a very deep impression to people that made me feel so good about the Mongolian fashion.

I think the Mongolian fashion has a very big potential as the Mongolian people carry a lot of ethnic elements to be uncovered,the distinctive culture features will greatly meet the trend of fashion globalization and consumer’s personalized demands so I suggest the Mongolian fashion professionals should explore more of their ethnic natures,take more active steps to promote their own brands in international fashion events and make better use of international performance platforms such as “the Silk Road International Fashion Week”for worldwide promotion of their products while building brands.
