Mineral Resources and Energy Minister D.Zorigt and Nature, Environment and Tourism Minister L.Gansukh have announced plans to distribute eco-friendly ger heaters before winter. The effort is part of a “fresh air” initiative to reduce air pollution in Ulaanbaatar. The initiative was proposed by President Ts.Elbegdorj and approved by MPs last winter. The ministers say 70,000 homes will receive the heaters, which use coking coal. It is hoped that this will reduce air pollution in the city. The Government will also offer assistance to low-income citizens who would like to purchase one of the heaters.
