J.Munkhbat, the Mongolian athlete who brought medals home from the Olympics and the World Freestyle Wrestling Championships has died aged 77.
Born in Erdenesant soum of Tuv province on 1 June 1941, J.Munkhbat graduated from the State Institute of Finance and Economics. He won the annual Naadam national wrestling competition six times and founded the ‘Ikh Shavi’ sports intitution in 1996. J.Munkhbat also entered politics and was one of the deputies who approved the Mongolia’s Constitution.
J.Munkhbat won a silver medal in the 1968 Mexico Olympics and silver in the World Freestyle Wrestling Championships.
