Mongolia and Uruguay were confirmed to have struck a visa-free deal, presenting an opportunity for a visa-free trip to each others’ citizens for thirty days.

The signing of the agreement was revealed on Monday by the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was confirmed that Mongolian Deputy Foreign Minister B.Battsetseg, had signed the deal, alongside his Uruguayan counterpart Ariel Bergamino. The deal envisages that not just diplomats and officials, but ordinary passports from Mongolia and Uruguay could travel to the territory of the other contracting party without a visa for a maximum period of 30 days.

The Mongolian minister explained ‘the agreement aims to promote people-to-people exchanges between our two countries, especially in the tourism sector.’ The visa-free agreement will come into force after ratification by the parliaments of the two countries.

Uruguay is located on the southern side of South America, it borders the South Atlantic Ocean, sitting between Argentina and Brazil. Mongolia established relation with Uruguay in 1997.
