Mongolia and Kazakhstan have agreed on jointly setting up a gold refinery. The decision was announced during the 7th Intergovernmental Commission meeting which was held in Astana.

D.Sumiyabazar, Mongolia’s Minister of Mining and Heavy Industries met Arystan Kabikenov, Deputy Minister for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan on 30 March. At the meeting, they concluded a memorandum of cooperation in fields including geology, mining and civil aviation.

In the framework of the memorandum, the sides will collaborate in exchanging information, good practices and technology in mining sector and in training specialists.

Regarding the location of the gold refinery, the Mongolian government will be putting this high on their agenda.
