Yo.Otgonbayar, Mongolia’s newly appointed ambassador to Washington presented his credentials to U.S. President Donald Trump on 28 March.
The appointment of Mongolia’s ambassadors to the USA, Canada and Japan has been pending for over a year; the State Great Khural (parliament) has already approved Yo.Otgonbayar as Mongolian ambassador to the United States, N.Chinguumdari as ambassador to Canada and G.Tenger as ambassador to Japan. However, President Kh.Battulga has signed only Yo.Otgonbayar’s credentials; the remaining two are still waiting.
Yo.Otgonbayar graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIIMO) in 1989, the Marketing and Management Institute in India in 1995, and the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry in 2000. He is fluent in Russian, English, Hindi, Urdu and French. Yo.Otgonbayar has been working as a diplomat for 13 years. Previously, he worked as Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sport.
