A South African dairy farmer has won the 2011 Mongol Derby. Craig Egberink was the first rider across the finish line in the 1,000-kilometer race, which its organizers say is the longest and toughest horse race in the world. Twenty-three riders began the race, but only 15 finished. The race is run in stages across the Mongolian steppes, with riders swapping their mounts for fresh horses around every 40 kilometers.
