A man died on Saturday night after his vehicle went through the ice on Lake Khuvsgul. The tragedy took place during the ‘Blue Pearl – 2018’ ice festival which was held on 3-4 March. According to one source, the man was drunk when he drove onto a thin ice zone on the lake which officials had marked as dangerous.

The man’s corpse was found yesterday, five kilometers from the ice festival’s location and near the lakeside town of Khatgal. A local rescue team is now trying to pull the vehicle out from the icy waters of the lake..
