Since January, the Mongolian Police has been investigating six counterfeit money cases. On one occasion forged banknotes were used in a supermarket in the VII khoroo of Chingeltei District of the capital, Ulaanbaatar.

On another occasion, a 28 year old was caught while using fake MNT 20,000 notes to pay his karaoke bill in the Bayangol District. This second event took place on 14 February. The police are trying to determine whether all these incidents were connected.
