The Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) marked its 97th anniversary with a celebration meeting on Patriots Day which is held annually on 1 March. Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh, who is also the leader of the party, spoke at the opening ceremony. Mr U.Khurelsukh noted that the history of the MPP is the story of Mongolia’s freedom, independence, great construction and development.
Mongolia’s oldest political party, was founded on 25 June, 1920 when it played an important role in the Mongolian Revolution of 1921 which brought Independence from China’s Qing dynasty. Historically, the MPP was originally called the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party; under the leadership of D.Sukhbaataar, it held its first Congress on 1-3 March, 1921 and founded the Party’s Central Committee.
