One of the districts of the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar is to cooperate directly with a Japanese region. Three delegates from the Bayanzurkh district people’s assembly have visited Fukushima prefecture within the framework of the medium term strategic partnership programme between the two countries. During the visit, Mongolian delegates met Yekou Yoshida, mayor of Fukushima prefecture, Yaginuma Junko, deputy mayor and Junichi Sugiyama, head of the people’s representative assembly of the prefecture. The two sides exchanged views on specific cooperation topics between Bayanzurkh and Fukushima.
The Mongolian delegates proposed cooperating with Japan on developing farming with an emphasis on vegetables; it was also proposed that trained Mongolian nurses would work in Japan.
