The Population and Housing Census Commission held a meeting at the State Palace on Thursday with Mongolian prime minister U.Khurelsukh in the chair.

It was announced that the next national census will commence on 8-9 January 2020. The counting will last for a week and the results will be revealed in June.

Mongolian citizens living and studying in abroad will be able to participate in the census online.

On 25 January 2015 a baby girl was born in Umnogovi province. Named Mongoljin, by the president at the request of the parents, she brought the population to three million.
