Members of the Ongi River
Movement and the Gal Undesten Union marked the tenth anniversary of the
movement at a special meeting in Saikhan-Ovoo soum of Dundgobi aimag Friday and
Saturday. The movement’s successes and failures were discussed, as well as
future goals.
Since its founding in 2001, the
Ongi River Movement has worked to protect the river. It has planted 14,000
trees on the banks of the river. The group would eventually like to cover a
400-km area with trees.
