On 10 February,  Mongolian President Kh.Battulga, visited Khuvsgul province on as part of his nationwide tour. In the provincial centre Murun,  the President was welcomed by administration officials and a parade.

With a population of 132.1 thousand, Khuvsgul province had 5.2 million livestock at the end of 2017. the number of tourists who visited Khuvsgul increased to over 78 thousand in 2017 from 36.1 thousand in 2016; the number of foreign tourist has reached 11.4 thousand. The province is most famous for Lake Khuvsgul, which is the largest freshwater body of water in Mongolia.
