The Bank of Mongolia has released a silver coin honouring the Year of the Dog. The commemorative coin depicts a Mongol Bankhar, which is a mastiff and the traditional guard dog of nomadic herders. Previously, the bank released a commemorative 70x150mm 100 tugrug note to mark the Year of the Dog. Each note includes 5g of silver foil.

The Bank of Mongolia has been releasing gold, silver and bronze coins depicting endangered animals, Olympic athletes and other famous people since 1972 in order to increasing the treasure reserve.
