‘Kakuryu’, whose Mongolian name is  M.Anand, the 71st Yokozuna has had surgery on his right ankle. M.Anand, who hurt his ankle at the Hastu Basho sumo championship  before undergoing four disappointing straight defeats. M.Anand also underwent surgery on his right big toe at a hospital in Tokyo on 1 February; the procedure was successful, his stablemaster Isuzu said.

Kakuryu M.Anand, who moved into the top makuuchi division from November 2006, is the 71st fourth and consecutive Japanese professional sumo wrestlers since Mongolian national, 68th Champion ‘Asashoryu’ D.Dagvadorj, ‘Hakuho’ M.Davaajargal (69th) and ‘Harumafuji’ D.Byambadorj (70th).
