The Mongolian national airline MIAT is planning flights to the Chinese cities of Chengdu and Guangzhou. The Minister of Road and Transport Development J.Bat-Erdene emphasised that this represents a big step forward expanding tourism, investment and the business sectors.

To develop the tourism sectors of both countries, Mongolia has asked China to increase the frequency of flights between the two capitals, Ulaanbaatar and Beijing, and to take action to support a proposal on codeshare between the Mongolian national carrier MIAT and the Chinese state-owned “Air China”. It was also requested that the flights linking Ulaanbaatar with Ulan-Ude in the Russian Republic of Buryatia operated by “Hunnu Air” LLC be extended to include an onwards flight to Manzhouli in China’s Inner Mongolia,

According to the Montsame state news agency, the agreement on opening the new air routes between Mongolia and China was reached during an official visit by the Minister of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia to China.  The first flights on the new routes are expected in the second half of the year.
