Most fashion events are named after the city in which they take place;  the Silk Road International Fashion Week, however, is different: all the main cities located along its route are able to participate. From the times of Chinggis Khaan, Mongolia has been a key part of the Silk Road and in 2019 it will host the event.

A team of Mongolian designers and models has already successfully participated in the Silk Road International Fashion Week which is considered the Olympics of the Asian fashion industry. The last event was held in the ancient Chinese city of Chongqing, from 3 to 10 December. Parallel with the fashion event, the Asian International Super Model Contest took place. Mongolian model E.Enkhtuvshin was awarded the Asian International Super Model title. A total of 72 models from 31 countries participated in the contest.

During the Chongqing event, the Mongolian International Models’ Federation joined the Asian Models Federation and has signed cooperation agreement with China.
