Teachers from the Mongolian School for the Blind and Visually Impaired are to be trained in Poland. The issue was discussed during a meeting between Ts.Tsogzolmaa, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports and H.E. Michael Labenda, the Polish Ambassador to Ulaanbaatar.
Ambassador Labenda affirmed that Poland will continue with the higher education sector cooperation programme in Mongolia.
Mongolia will send teachers for professional development training with an aim of improving the learning environment for children with visual and hearing impairments.
Last year, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports tested the proficiency of the sign language teachers at the 29th School for the Deaf. The results were disturbing: according to the Ministry, 94 percent of the teaching staff met the Elementary MSL requirement, however, for the MSL Proficiency Standard, necessary for teaching, over half the teachers (56 percent) failed to meet the grade.
